Working with Damon has been invaluable in our daughter’s transition from elementary to middle school. I have always had a deep respect for our daughter’s educational team and usually rely on their recommendations. However, with the move to a new school, I felt like I was venturing into unknown territory. I needed some way to connect the intimate familiarity of her elementary team with the best-laid intentions of a middle school team that still has no concept of who our daughter is. And I needed to familiarize myself with the way special education works in middle school.

Damon begins his support in a way that aligns with each family’s unique goals for their child. He has a very personalized approach, taking the time to meet the child and family, outlining the differences between each class setting, and thoroughly reviewing the IEP to make sure there are no errors or omissions. His advocacy went above and beyond my expectations, with ease of access to his expertise, insights into the system and legalities, compassion for school team members that are doing their best, and emotional support for what can be a rollercoaster journey. He helped us to come up with some unique solutions that I never would have thought of on my own, and he helped me to stick firm with my gut feeling about what was right for our daughter. He also helped me to remember that her path is not set in stone, and we can always make adaptations as needed down the road. In all, it’s been a pleasure working with Damon – his compassion, knowledge, wisdom, and respect have been life-changing for our family!
